New Student ID Badge Expectations for the 2026-2027 School Year

Posted Date: 07/14/26 (04:00 PM)

Dear Weis Middle School Families,

As we prepare for the 2026-2027 school year, we want to inform you of an important update to our student ID badge expectations. To create consistency across Galveston ISD secondary campuses, Weis Middle School will be aligning our ID badge procedures with those of Central Middle School and Ball High School.

Beginning this school year:

  • All students are required to wear their school-issued picture ID at all times while on campus.
  • ID badges must be worn on a school lanyard over the outermost layer of clothing so the picture is clearly visible at all times.
  • Students must show their ID badge to enter the building each morning.
  • ID badges may not be defaced, altered, or covered in any way.
Each student will receive one complimentary ID badge during the first week of school.

If a student arrives at school without their ID badge, a new ID badge will be issued so they can remain in compliance with campus expectations. A $5 replacement fee will be charged to the student's Skyward account each time a new ID badge is issued. Daily ID badge charges can be viewed in Skyward, and parents will receive a notification through Hero each day their student is charged for a replacement ID.

Student ID badges are an important part of maintaining a safe and secure campus. They allow us to quickly identify students, ensure that only authorized individuals are on campus, and create a consistent learning environment for everyone.

We appreciate your partnership in helping your child make wearing their ID badge part of their daily routine. Your support will help ensure a smooth transition as we implement this district-aligned expectation.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to a fantastic school year!

Sincerely,
Michelle Hammonds
